Recruitment underway for new ERA CEO

After more than six years leading the organization, Steve MacDonald has announced he will be retiring  from his position of CEO with Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) in June, 2022.  The search for a new CEO was launched earlier this month.

MacDonald joined ERA in 2015 after an extensive career in the Alberta civil service. Under his leadership, ERA’s  investments have grown to $821 million towards 221 projects worth $6.6 billion. These investments are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create competitive industries and are leading to new business opportunities in Alberta. These projects are estimated to deliver cumulative reductions of 42.3 million tonnes of CO₂e by 2030 and the creation of over 20,000 person-year jobs in Alberta by 2024 and over $3 billion to the province’s GDP.
