TS-Nano is piloting a patented nano-modified polymer to improve cement sealing performance by resisting methane gas migration. The polymer supplements cement’s hydrostatic pressure during gelling and solidification, significantly reducing surface casing vent flow and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The technology will be tested with cement commonly used in Alberta’s oil and gas sector to tackle methane migration issues in abandoned wells. Its successful adoption could enhance environmental performance while increasing cost-efficiency in well-plugging operations.
