Pressure sensors are critical in enhanced geothermal wells because they are the main method operators use to understand conditions deep underground under extreme heat and pressure. Despite this need, reliable downhole pump pressure monitoring remains unavailable for enhanced geothermal projects operating above 200°C. To address this gap, Phase Advanced Sensor Systems Corp. plans to demonstrate a reliable, high-resolution pressure sensor for high-temperature applications. Low-cost, reliable, precision pressure sensors will improve the output of high-temperature geothermal installations, resulting in significant displacement of natural gas for electricity generation. The project plans to include a laboratory demonstration, lifetime testing to demonstrate sensor longevity, and pilot tests at 200°C, 250°C, and 275°C to advance and validate performance at high temperatures.
