H2nanO and partners are set to demonstrate two breakthrough solutions for oil sands mine water management: Active Photocatalysis (A-PC) and Interfacial Multi-Effect Distillation (IMED). A-PC builds on H2nanO’s SolarPass photocatalyst technology by using high-efficiency UV-LED reactors to intensify organics removal in a 24/7, year-round process, while IMED extends H2nanO’s natural and surplus energy-powered treatment solutions to desalination and water reuse.

iMED introduces a fouling-resistant thermal desalination process to tackle salinity and enable high-efficiency water reuse. These innovations aim to transform water treatment across the oil sands life cycle, reducing environmental impact and improving operational efficiency.
