CleanDesign has developed the Standalone Intelligent Energy Management System (SIEMS), a compact, software-centric energy control solution mounted directly on drilling rigs. The system uses real-time data collection, capturing up to 60,000 data points per second, along with advanced automation to coordinate, control, and optimize rig power usage. These capabilities support fuel reduction, predictive maintenance, and improved generator utilization. Designed for broad compatibility, SIEMS can operate across multiple generator-set configurations, energy sources (diesel, natural gas, grid, or renewables), and all major rig classes.

This project will demonstrate SIEMS on five Ensign Energy Services Inc. rigs to validate its ability to optimize generator performance, stabilize power delivery, and reduce emissions under real-world drilling conditions. The rigs, located in Alberta, were selected to represent a broad range of operating environments and configurations, including power sources, rig sizes, generator-set arrangements, and integration requirements.
