Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is a key pathway to decarbonize cement manufacturing. However, pre-treating the flue gas is important to prevent equipment fouling, solvent degradation, aerosol emissions, and high water use, issues that conventional filtration systems find difficult to address. This project plans to scale up an innovative low-pressure drop filtration system that uses patented Large Confined Jet Pulse (LCJP) technology and 3D-printed metal filters. Designed for CCUS applications, the compact, modular, and regenerable solution offers strong fine particle removal while reducing solids in downstream equipment to pre-treat flue gas. The project plans to demonstrate the technology through an engineering-scale pilot at Amrize’s Exshaw cement plant.
