EDMONTON, AB, September 15, 2026— Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) is contributing up to $3.2 million for the Clean Energy Transition Partnership’s (CETP) Joint Call 2026 to fund clean technology projects led by proponents from at least three different countries or regions. CETP is a transnational initiative that brings together funding organizations across 30 countries to accelerate clean energy research, development, and innovation.
Funding is pooled together to support selected projects, covering a broad variety of technologies and system solutions required to make the green transition. ERA will focus on energy system flexibility; advanced renewable energy; industrial carbon management; hydrogen and renewable fuels; stationary battery; heating and cooling; and integrated industrial energy systems.
ERA has participated in the CETP Joint Call since 2022 to give Alberta organizations access to international collaboration, expertise, and funding opportunities for clean energy technologies. Funding is sourced from the Government of Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) fund.

Project proposals require a consortium consisting of at least three eligible applicants from at least three separate countries or regions participating in Joint Call 2026. Submissions for pre-proposals are due October 8, 2026 at 14:00 (CEST). Funding is available for projects at the technology scale-up, field pilot, commercial demonstration, or commercial implementation stages.
ERA has funded one clean technology project through CETP and seven projects through its predecessor, the Accelerating CCS Technologies challenge. CETP collaborates with funding partners within and beyond Europe to broaden the global knowledge and experience base and introduce European solutions and stakeholders to global value chains. The initiative enables 50 national and regional RTDI funding partners from 30 countries to align on priorities, pool budgets, and implement annual calls until 2027.

For 17 years, ERA has invested revenues from the industrial carbon price paid by large emitters to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative clean technology solutions. Since its establishment in 2009, ERA has committed $1.19 billion toward 364 projects valued at over $10.8 billion.
