Funded through ERA’s Continuous Intake Program, the Brooks Newell Hydrogen Project brings together the two critical elements required to successfully introduce hydrogen as a transportation fuel in Alberta. The first is the design and construction of a stand-alone hydrogen production and refuelling facility (H2 Hub) capable of meeting local demand for clean hydrogen while also acting as a template for a future network of hydrogen refuelling facilities. The second is the creation of the market conditions essential to sustain the demand for hydrogen, including providing regional fleet owners (and their customers) with the information they must have to successfully begin to incorporate hydrogen into their operations. This will include the installation of dual-fuel hydrogen injection systems on a range of heavy-duty transport trucks and other equipment, including a farm tractor, owned and operated by public and private sector partners in the region.
