Ashcor Technologies Ltd. operates the Battle River facility—a resource recovery plant that processes reclaimed coal ash from legacy coal-fired power generation. The facility transforms this industrial byproduct into a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) used in concrete and oilwell cementing applications.

During this project, Ashcor plans to upgrade the facility’s dryer with an advanced combustion optimization system to improve energy efficiency, production throughput, and emissions performance. This first-of-kind burner optimization initiative will reduce natural gas use, improve system stability and increase SCM output by up to 27%.

The project is expected to deliver approximately 86,500 tCO2e/year in emission reductions, driven by improved thermal efficiency and indirect cement displacement.
