GeoGen’s patented technology extracts useful electricity and heat from a geothermal resource without fluid extraction or pumping. Rather than converting low-grade heat to electricity like other geothermal processes, GeoGen generates electricity at the bottom of the well like a hydro-dam, where gravity drives circulation. It can be applied to any well architecture that employs a sealed, closed loop.
This pilot program has two primary testing phases. First, GeoGen will circulate water to study the geothermal resource and measure heat recovery. Afterward, they will circulate CO2 to test its ability to generate electricity underground. GeoGen’s closed-loop system provides significant environmental advantages, including zero emissions, no freshwater consumption, minimal land impact, and no risk of induced seismicity, setting it apart from traditional energy generation approaches.
