Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation (CSMC) is collaborating with the University of Alberta to commission a non-fueled nuclear micro-modular reactor (MMR) prototype to build capacity and highlight the opportunity for nuclear power in Alberta to key stakeholders. The objective of the proposed project is to enable adoption by supporting stakeholders in using the prototype, familiarizing themselves with nuclear technology and risks, building capacity, and generating requirements for commissioning a future-fueled research reactor at the UofA. The project plans to conclude with a detailed design package for commissioning a modernized research reactor and a state-of-the-art research facility at the University of Alberta.
