This project aimed to assess Svante’s adsorption technology, which would capture CO2 from the flue gas of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) at Suncor’s Edmonton refinery. Funded through ERA’s Carbon Capture Kickstart call and announced in 2022, the project scope included conducting a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study of the CO2 capture plant and transportation system. Before work began, Suncor decided to discontinue this project in February 2024.
