SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – 16 MONTH TERM POSITION

Role Description

ERA is seeking a skilled professional to join our Finance Team as a Senior Accountant. This position is a 16-month contract role covering a parental leave. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in financial reporting, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day Operations

  • Review invoices and expense reports in accordance with existing policies and procedures
  • Monitor cashflow through detailed analysis and liaise with ERA’s partnered financial institutions
  • Conduct thorough investment analysis and provide recommendations on potential investment opportunities

Project Intake and Portfolio Management

  • Collaborate with the portfolio management team to ensure the accuracy of data in the project database
  • Support the enhancement and maintenance of ERA’s data collection and performance reporting processes
  • Perform financial risk assessments on projects and provide financial insights during the project intake process to be presented by the Finance Manager or Portfolio Director at consensus meetings

Financial Reporting and Data Presentation

  • Prepare draft annual financial statements and assist with the external financial audit
  • Draft briefing notes on finance related matters for board reports
  • Develop and maintain an internal finance and executive summary dashboards using PowerBI

Tax Responsibilities

  • Assist our service provider in preparation of T2/T1044 return
  • Help in preparation of T4A and T4NR slips
  • Support CRA with tax, GST and or payroll audits if needed

Special Projects

  • Take on special projects and ad-hoc tasks to provide additional support to the Finance team and the Organization when needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • CPA designation or having passed the Common Final Examination and working towards a CPA designation preferred
  • Minimum 3- 5 years of work experience in the accounting field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and SharePoint
  • Experience with PowerBI for data visualization is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Location

This role will work from ERA’s Edmonton office. At ERA, we support flexibility by offering employees the option to work remotely on some days, while spending the majority of their time collaborating in person at our office.

Compensation

ERA offers competitive compensation in addition to opportunities for personal and professional achievement. The base salary for this position is between $83,000 – $92,000 depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits.

Mandatory Requirements
